A Memorable Evening at Neilson Hays Library

2024 was an exciting year for us at Ricepad Studios, filled with creativity and meaningful collaborations. One standout event was a smaller yet unforgettable projection mapping experience at the iconic Neilson Hays Library in Bangkok, Thailand. The evening was elevated by the mesmerizing live performances of handpan musicians and artists from Japan, creating an enchanting and healing atmosphere for attendees.

Our projection mapping aided in elevating the experience in the historic library; making it into a canvas of light and motion, complementing the soothing, ethereal sounds of the handpan. This unique blend of technology and art brought the event to life, offering a captivating experience for all who attended.

What is a Handpan?

The handpan is a relatively new musical instrument that originated in the early 2000s. It is a steel percussion instrument, and produces melodic, resonant tones when struck. The instrument’s hypnotic sounds are often described as meditative and otherworldly, making it a favorite for ambient and relaxing music. At this event, the handpan performance allowed us the chance to blend traditional craftsmanship with modern artistic expressions.
